THINGS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT
It's a miracle!
Celebrate Hanukkah with 8 Nights, 8 Windows, the first-ever Jewish public art project in Boston. We're working with New Center NOW, in partnership with the Boston Jewish Film Festival and Boston Jewish Music Festival, to feature local artists' original art installations across the city. These professionally-juried works will share stories both old and new through fabulously interactive angles.
Bonus: Want an art fix before December? Check out the Boston Jewish Film Festival's Fresh Flix films for young adults!
THINGS WE'RE SERIOUS ABOUT
Meet your match
Forget the well-meaning advice from relatives and lengthy forms to fill out because we’ve got just the match for you. An anonymous (and very generous) donor has offered to match the first $1,000 of ALL new gifts made to CJP by November 13! That’s right, if you make a new gift for 2016 today, you’ll be making double the impact.
THINGS IN THE CITY
Time's running out
Nominations for Chai in the Hub close tomorrow! Make sure you nominate amazing young adults who are making an impact in Greater Boston. You don’t have to be Europe to get in on this VIP experience—but you do have to hurry.
Tonight's the night
Register and join us at 4:30 p.m. today for our community gathering "Remembrance, Resilience and Hope: Boston Stands with Israel." Speakers include Representative Joseph Kennedy III and IDF Col. (ret.) Miri Eisin and CJP volunteer, Danielle Ain.
From November 8-15, five young adult leaders from Haifa will visit to represent the Boston-Haifa Connection, present the work of the Young Leaders Committee in Haifa to their counterparts in Boston, and to learn about and celebrate what Jewish identity looks like here in the Hub. Check out all the opportunities to come meet these fabulous Israelis.
Rebel with a cause
On November 11, the Genesis Forum dives into fascinating territory with “Of Pharaohs and Rebels,” a discussion on ancient leaders, Exodus texts and Moses—perhaps the most famous rebel of all time. Guided by Dr. Erica Brown, you’ll explore how power works, how it gets corrupted and what we can do within a framework of ethics to keep personal power in check.
Riddle me this
What do geckos, porcupine quills and the cure for a broken heart have in common? If you work in the healthcare field, come discover all that and more at the Health Professions Annual Breakfast on November 15! Our revamped event—now at the swanky Westin Waltham Hotel—features keynote speaker Dr. Jeff Karp discussing the inherent medical inspirations in nature.
Ready, set, grow
The next generation of social innovators has arrived...interested in working with them? PresenTense is always looking for skills-based volunteers! Whether you’re a marketing guru or an accountant extraordinaire looking to give back, you can have a direct impact on a PresenTense Fellow and their venture. Check out bostonfellowship.com or reach out to Harris at email@example.com for more details!
A winning combo
The Ben-Gurion Society is excited to partner with Josh Kraft—President of The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, and Nicholas President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston—on November 19 for a night highlighting the importance of giving back and balancing your work, philanthropy and personal interests. Want more info? Email Julia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Save the date
Awesome alert: israel360 and PresenTense are coming together on December 7 for "Innovation and Israel," in conjunction with 8 Nights 8 Windows! You'll get hands-on during fun activities, and hear from guest speaker Viva Sarah Press, who will discuss innovations and entrepreneurship in Israel. More details coming!
