THINGS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT
Did you know that 2017 is a year of major anniversaries for Israel? This year marks 100 years since the Balfour Declaration called for the creation of a national home for the Jewish people; 70 years since the UN voted to partition the British-ruled Palestine Mandate into a Jewish state and an Arab state; and 50 years since the Six Day War. Some of us are celebrating these dates, and some of us have complicated feelings about them. We know that talking about Israel can sometimes be hard, and that's exactly why CJP is launching the CommUNITY Israel Dialogue. This new initiative will help the Greater Boston community engage in respectful discussions across diverse perspectives, all while expressing our support for a secure and democratic Jewish State of Israel. Find events and other opportunities to join in the discussion.
Tribute to Shimon Peres
Join us tonight (March 1) as we launch the CommUNITY Israel Dialogue with a Tribute to Shimon Peres (z"l). A member of Israel's founding generation and eloquent spokesperson for his country and the Jewish people, Shimon Peres was a champion of peace, tolerance, and respect and was known for putting his strong sense of common humanity into action. Nadav Tamir, former Consul General of Israel to New England and one of President Peres' closest advisors, will provide the keynote at this event at Temple Israel of Boston. If you haven't already registered, don't worry — walk-ins are welcome!
THINGS WE'RE SERIOUS ABOUT
Don't miss out on the fun(ding)
The deadline for applications for CJP's Young Adult Community Grants is March 31! Up to $5,000 in funding is available to 501(c)3s or those who have a fiscal sponsor with programs that promote social justice and leadership development or create innovative opportunities to bring young adults together. Apply now, because we want to make your ideas come to life.
THINGS IN THE CITY
The 4 Ds: Dinner, drinks, dessert, discussion
This year, israel360 is launching Israel in Depth, a series of six sessions where you will learn about everything from Israeli history to innovation to how to get involved here in Boston, all while exploring your own personal connection to Israel. The new israel360 website is live! Check it out and join us as we host our second Ask Me Anything (AMA) with Col. (Res.) Miri Eisin, a world-renowned expert on Israeli politics and policy. In “U.S.-Israel Relations in the Trump Era,” we’ll focus on the policy shifts in the first 50 (or so) days of President Trump’s administration and their impact on Israel’s relationship with the United States. Ask your questions now and tune in March 2 at 7:30 p.m. to chat live with Miri!

THINGS WE SUPPORT
Each year, CJP helps support programs and organizations throughout our community. Here are some of this month’s events we proudly fund.
Work it out
Looking for a good time with new friends, stimulating discussion, or Jewish takes on today's issues? Join Eser! This series of ten conversations, called Ten Ethical Dilemmas: What Would You Do?, will tackle everything from money to building community to dating. This program is designed for young professionals in their 20s and 30s and takes place in living rooms across the Greater Boston area from JP to the North Shore. What are you waiting for?
We love Purim for lots of reasons, but one of them is Havurah on the Hill's annual Harry Purim and the Scroll of Esther Purim Party at the Vilna Shul. Join us on March 11 in costume for a megillah reading with skits and spiels and an amazing afterparty. With a night this fun, you'll be able to say "mischief managed!" and mean it!
Beyond the Aleph-Bet
Want to be able to chat with the locals the next time you're in Israel? Come learn conversational Hebrew at The Vilna Shul! Starting March 14, they're hosting a lively class for young professionals on Tuesday evenings — no prior knowledge is necessary! For more information or to register, please email email@example.com. Yalla!
That funky music
The best thing about Israeli music is that there's no one way to describe it, so come experience it for yourself. Aveva was discovered on the Israeli version of The Voice, and JArts is bringing her Ethiopian-Israeli funk AfroSoul Show to the Center for Arts at the Armory on March 30.
Remember how much fun Jewish overnight camp was (or how much you wanted to go)? Relive the fun with Trybal Gatherings, summer camp just for adults! Come to Camp Eisner in the Berkshires August 24–27, and register soon: our code, CAMPCJP, will give you a $75 discount until March 15!
