WP News, March 2017

Happy Summer! We hope you’re enjoying lots of fun in the sun and taking some much-deserved time to unwind and relax.

Last week, nearly 100 women joined us by the sea for Choose to Connect. We had a lovely evening where we shared stories about what’s important to us on the North Shore and beyond, heard from CJP’s Amy Mitman about our inspiring collective history, and connected with each other through conversation.

As August approaches, we’re looking forward to our exciting year ahead! Details for our next three events are below, and we hope you’ll join us. Plans are also underway for our 2018 Women’s Philanthropy Mission to Israel, set for March 13–20. Stay tuned for more details!

Thanks for all that you do for CJP and Women’s Philanthropy.

WP News July 2017 Community Summer started in a big way for 40 local young adults who recently spent 10 days in Israel on one of CJP’s post-college Birthright Israel trips.

Highlights of the trip included visiting Boston’s sister city of Haifa, taking a Graffiti Tour in Tel Aviv, spending time at Masada and the Dead Sea, celebrating Shabbat in the desert, and connecting with Israeli soldiers and students.

Through their transformative journey, participants deepened their passion for Israel and for Jewish life, created a community of their own, and learned more about CJP’s work.

CJP runs two free Birthright Israel trips for young adults each year – one in the summer and one in the winter. If you, or someone in your life, are between the ages of 22 and 26, you may be eligible.

Camp For many children, Jewish overnight camp is where they make some of their best memories and friendships. But it’s more than just an exciting summer escape — it’s a place where Jewish values are learned and lived.

This summer, CJP is making this experience possible for more than 425 first-time campers with our “One Happy Camper” grant program. Almost a third of those children would not have attended camp without this incentive grant.

CJP has also distributed 253 affordability scholarship awards this summer, helping more than 185 families send their children to camp to experience the joys of Jewish community.

Learn more about CJP’s transformative camping initiative. If you’re interested in joining an upcoming CJP tour of an overnight camp, email Claire at

Rachel Heckler
When Rachel Heckler moved back to the Boston area after college, a high school friend introduced her to CJP.

“Being new to Sudbury and a new mother, I was happy to meet other women and feel like an ‘adult,’” Rachel says. “My parents and grandparents had always supported their federations, so when I heard more about CJP’s mission and learned about Women's Philanthropy, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.”

Lorin Seidman
Corinne Morahan
When she moved to Boston from New York City in 2011, Corinne Morahan turned to CJP to meet new people and connect to the community.

“When I first became involved with CJP, the most rewarding parts were meeting and learning from amazing and inspiring women, and attending fun and meaningful events,” Corinne says.
